This afternoon I received a package from the nice folks in Peak UK containing their 2017 Peak UK Combi. As spring rolls in lots of Irish and UK paddlers are putting the finial touches on to their plans to escape to Europe or further afield in search of Alpine melt or big volume warm water. Over the next few weeks I’ll be running a group test putting white water shorty cags from some of the most popular manufactures in the UK and Ireland to the test. I’ll be rating them on the following criteria.
- Je ne sais quoi
Once we’re done you might be a bit better informed before you invest in a whitewater shorty cag. For over a decade now my paddling kit has had to staples that I swap between depending on the conditions. I wear either a dry suit of a shorty cag. Despite what may might say Ireland has a temperate climate and you can wear a shorty cag in comfort for a good chunk of the year. A good shorty cag gives an amazing sense of freedom while keeping you as dry (almost) as your regular set up. The bonus being that as you’ll not use it all year round the average paddler will get YEARS OF USE out of a shorty.
Without further ado here is my unboxing and first impressions of the 2017 Peak UK Combi.
I’m really looking forward to getting out on the water with the 2017 Peak UK Combi, first impressions are super positive. The color is VERY BRIGHT but that’s a positive for me. Here are a few more detailed photos of the Combi.
If you can’t wait until the full group test is published and have to have the 2017 Peak UK Combi right away you can purchases them at any Peak UK stockist or via i-canoe’s website HERE where they are currently €180.
